Additionally, having moist soil can help with holding the root ball together, help the compaction of soil in the new pot, and will also help keep a clean working area. However, avoid overwatering, as overly damp soil can lead to root rot and other issues. Allow the excess water to drain before proceeding with the transplanting process.
